FAIRBORN – Desiree Malone, 25, is the newest member of the Fairborn Police Department.

A native of Dayton, Malone attended Kalplan College majoring in criminal justice with a desire to join the military after completing school. She participated in a few police ride-alongs, and after careful consideration felt that a career in law enforcement was best tailored for her.

Graduating in 2011, Malone worked for the Lebanon Correctional Institute until a position opened with the Montgomery County Sheriffs office. While working there, she enrolled in the Greene County Career Center Criminal Justice Academy, where she earned her Ohio Peace Officer Certification.

Malone applied for the officer position, stating that she likes the diversity of Fairborn.

“Fairborn is pretty busy and there is lots to do,” Malone said, “I feel very comfortable being in Fairborn.”

She was sworn in on Monday, Aug. 3, by Fairborn Assistant City Manager Pete Bales.
