Devotional: The princes

0

“But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persian.” (Daniel 10:13)

There is a spirit world unknown to us. It is another dimension created by God, in which He dwells. The mystery of this is touched on throughout Scripture but we never can fully understand it. Daniel learned that his mission was from the Lord, who would intervene with His mighty angel (prince) Michael, to see that His plan progressed. Here is another example of God’s supremacy. Everything moves aside when He directs, whether through His Word, Spirit or angels. It is important for us to be aware that we are involved in two wars, one physical on this earth and one spiritual waged behind the scenes.

Everything that happened here was preceded by Daniels fasting and prayer. He spent three weeks in serious meditation and prayer for the Lord’s direction. He was not disappointed and God broke through the barrier that had been placed before him by Satan’s angel. Satan’s angel resisted the messenger of God for twenty one days, which is three weeks, but God had the victory. Daniel’s prayers got God’s ear and brought His response. Here again is the lesson that there is no power in prayer, but there is power in the one to whom we pray.

Heavenly Father, lead us like You led Daniel. By Your grace bring us to pray for Your guidance and direction in all we do. Break through any resistance with Your holy angels to bring Your message to us and guide us into Your will. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
