FAIRBORN – The 26th Annual Fairborn 5K last Saturday had a 126 percent increase in runners compared to last year with a total number of 145 participants. Winners range in various age categories beginning at age nine and under to ages 80 and over.
In addition, there were two categories not connected with age: the overall male and female winners – first runners to cross the finish line, and the first Fairborn resident male and female to cross the finish line.
The overall male runner, Travis Jones, crossed the finish line at 17:23:70, and the first overall female runner to cross was Stephanie Pierce with a time of 21:29:17. Both runners are Fairborn residents, but also won the overall category; prizes were awarded to the next Fairborn male and female: Donald Oreskovich and Jodie Pierce.
A special cash prize is awarded for one male and one female 65 and older. The first place male runner 65 or older was Ron Argabright, and the first place female runner age 65 and older was Pat Darling.
