Marathon now offering option

FAIRBORN — With the recent sell-out of the Air Force Marathon, organizers have announced details for the transfer program.

The transfer program will open at 9 a.m. July 27 and run through 12 p.m. July 31. Runners who wish to transfer their bib will be able to log on to the Air Force Marathon website, click “Transfer Now,” fill out the online form and receive a special code. They can then give that code to another person who can use it to transfer into the same race.

While the Air Force Marathon doesn’t facilitate transfers between individuals, transfer connections can be made on the Air Force Marathon Facebook page, via Twitter or through personal acquaintances.

Costs for the transfer program vary for each race, and charges will apply only to the person transferring into a race. This is the only official way to transfer a bib.

Runners found on the course wearing someone else’s bib that was not transferred properly could be removed and barred from further participation.

Race transfer program processing fee: Full marathon – $40; half marathon – $30; 10K – $20;5k – $10.

The Air Force Marathon, presented by Northrop Grumman, USAA and Boeing, will be held Sept.19. The Sports & Fitness Expo is held at Wright State University’s Nutter Center and will be Sept.17 through 18. For more information about the race, visit www.usafmarathon.com.
