XENIA — A Fairborn man was sentenced Thursday to nine years in prison for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. Keith Fyffe, 51, was sentenced after pleading guilty to three unlawful sexual conduct with a minor charges as part of a plea deal in January.

Fyffe was originally indicted on eight such charges in September 2015. The other five charges were dismissed as part of plea negotiations.

Fyffe apologized to the victim and his own family Thursday and asked the court to have mercy in sentencing, so he could take care of a family member.

Fyffe’s attorney, Chris Fogt also asked Judge Michael Buckwalter for mercy.

“He has taken full responsibility in this matter,” Fogt said. “He’s sincerely sorry for his actions and decision-makings thereof and is willing to accept any and all counseling and/or other help that he could benefit from so as to overcome this issue as well as show and prove to the victim that he is indeed not only sorry but is not going to continue such behavior.”

Prosecutors recommended a five-year sentence for the Fairborn man before Buckwalter imposed the 108-month (nine-year) prison sentence.

Fyffe will be classified as a Tier II sex offender and must register as such every 180 days for 25 years.

Court records also show that Fyffe pleaded guilty to a gross sexual imposition charge in Greene County Common Pleas Court in 1985 and was subsequently sentenced to serve one year in prison.
