WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE — Celebrity chef Robert Irvine visited Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Aug. 22 to judge the Mess Hall Madness Cook Off, sponsored by the USO of Central and Southern Ohio.
The USO-sponsored event pitted local Airmen cooking talent against each other under the watchful eye of chef Irvine. Irvine moved among four contestants giving tips and lending a hand before heading up the event’s judging.
Master Sgt. Jacob Hellickson, assigned to the 124th Intelligence Squadron Inspector General office was named winner of the cook-off by a panel of judges, including Irvine.
During his visit, Irvine also stopped by the Wright-Patterson Medical Center Nutritional Medicine Flight to meet Airmen and discuss dietary nutrition.
Irvine has appeared on and hosted a variety of Food Network programs and has more than 27 years in the culinary profession. Irvine has also established the Robert Irvine Foundation to support military personnel and their families.
