XENIA — When automobiles became popular, Paul Hawkins wanted to manufacture a car and so encourage several investors to back his project of a narrow gauge auto complete with a deluxe two cycle air cooled engine. He stated that the little car had run at two cents per mile. In 1914, the Hawkins Cycle Car Company began to produce a car which was about 40 inches wide and eight feet long. About 100 people entered the contest to name the new car. The wining name selected was Xenia Cycle Car.
