The most masterful artist

Psalm 8:1 “O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!”

The Lord is the most masterful artist!

This God-Fact overwhelmed me today. I have been taxing my brain about colors ever since my long-overdue decision to paint the bedrooms. As I sought to choose the perfect palette for each area, my head spun with decisions and I again confirmed my suspicions that home decorating is not one of my natural talents. That is why I reveled in God’s artistic abilities early this morning.

As I stepped out into the dawn, the earth captured my mood with blue-gray ribbons of mist binding the beauty hidden behind the horizon. But as I scanned the drab canvas, my attention was drawn to a blush of color forming in the eastern sky. Mesmerized, I witnessed the clouds surrounding the area beginning to take on a peach hue around the edges. Like the radiant face of a bride hidden behind her thin veil, the beauty slowly began to transform the sky.

While the clouds behind me waited patiently in their gray robes, more and more of those closest to the east took color as the Master artist moved His brush over the canvas. In a matter of minutes the landscape before me took shape as the green cornstalks and azure blue skies became visible. What beauty! What color! All of the varying hues blended together to create the most magnificent work of art.

The delightful painting before me took my breath away. I considered how majestic even the very name of our Lord is in all the earth. The great display of His splendor above the heavens would cause anyone to consider the work of His fingers. Though we are small in the whole scheme of creation, this great and masterful Artist cares for us! The strokes of His steady hands and His creative genius have formed each of our bodies and woven us together in our mother’s wombs. We are fearfully and wonderfully made.

As I reverently made my way back to our old farmhouse, my mind was again full of color. What color should I paint the bedroom? There is such a wide variety to choose from and I don’t know which one to pick. I finally came to the conclusion that it doesn’t really matter. Home decorating may not be my specialty, but I have a heavenly Father Who is a Master Artist. If I am disappointed with the color I choose, I can always look out the window to see the perfect palette, and an ever-changing beautiful landscape, which can remind me of the One Who loves you and me more than anything. – Love, Mama
