Village Artisans presents ‘Imagine Joy’

YELLOW SPRINGS — Village Artisans in Yellow Springs will host a Members Art Show this holiday season, showcasing the work of 20 artists in the village and surrounding community.

The show, titled “Imagine Joy,” brings together artists who work in a variety of media to bring some much-needed seasonal cheer to residents, visitors, and community members.

Each of the 20 artists featured in the show will display their work in the Village Artisans’ Lobby Gallery from Saturday, Nov. 7 through Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

“It has truly been an unusual year and as the world moves forward through the pandemic and political strife, artists use their art to help with healing and to bring hope and joy not just to themselves but also to the people who view and share their art,” the shop said in the announcement.

Libby Rudolf, a watercolor and mixed media artist, said the idea for “Imagine Joy” emerged out of a desire to bring something positive to the end of a difficult year. Village Artisans has not been immune to the effects of the pandemic, and cancelled its “Art on the Lawn” event earlier this summer.

“Imagine Joy is what this season is all about,” Rudolf said. “And it’s what we need right now.”

Village Artisans is a cooperative art gallery in Yellow Springs featuring locally-made, affordable hand crafted jewelry, woodworking, pottery, photography, paintings, drawings, fiber, glass, and mixed media art. The shop has expanded its sales options to include online, phone, and roadside pickup.

Village Artisans is located on the corner of Corry Street and Dayton Street in Yellow Springs. Regular gallery hours are Sunday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information call 937-767-1209, email [email protected], or visit www.villageartisans.blogspot.com.
