XENIA — An aircraft crashed at the Greene County Airport, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to WDTN.

The Greene County Coroner has been called to the scene, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The call came in just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, the sheriff’s office said.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is at the scene as of Tuesday evening and will be handling the investigation.

Weather conditions at the time of the crash were overcast, but were not enough to obstruct the view of a pilot, said Brian Davis, WDTN’s chief meteorologist.

The plane is at the end of the runway in an embankment, said WDTN photographer Mike Burianek. Firefighters are working to gain access, he said.

“I saw a low airplane going northbound around the airport going real low, making a wide left hand turn. His left wing dipped and did a barrel roll into the trees,” said Terry, who did not want to give his last name.

The Federal Aviation Administration is also at the scene.
