FAIRBORN — Fairborn firefighters were dispatched at 5:26 a.m. Wednesday, May 11 as two back rooms at Premier Energy were engulfed in flames, but the bulk of the fire was extinguished by 5:38 a.m, according to Fairborn Fire Chief Mike Riley.

Premier Energy, located on the 5000 block of Interstate Dr., works with gas pipes, according to news reports. Our partners at WDTN reported that the fire caused $30,000-$40,000 worth of damage.

The cause remains under investigation, but Riley does not believe it to be suspicious. While the back two rooms are what was impacted by the fire, he said the rest of the building still stands.

“Everything went well,” Riley said. “The guys did a great job.”

Fairborn firefighters had to call mutual aid from the Enon, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and City of Huber Heights fire departments. Riley said due to the location of the building, firefighters had to lay a lot of hose down on the ground in order to extinguish the flames.

Upon putting out the bulk of the flames by 5:38 a.m., firefighters went into overhaul mode, which means firefighters are breaching walls and searching for hidden flames in an effort to salvage what can be saved. The fire was completely out by 6:13 a.m.
