April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

XENIA — As part of National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April, Greene County Children Services staff have planted 1,268 multicolor pinwheels in front of the agency’s offices in Xenia. The pinwheels are accompanied by a banner that explains that the number of pinwheels represents the number of reports of child abuse and neglect in Greene County last year.

Ohio Wears Blue Day. Greene County organizations are participating in Ohio Wears Blue Day by encouraging their employees and/or members to wear the color blue on Wednesday, April 13. Children Services is providing lapel stickers to participants and encouraging them to e-mail photos for the agency to post on its Facebook page on Wear Blue Day.

Pinwheel partners. Multiple Greene County organizations are hosting their own smaller pinwheel displays this month. Children Services provides pinwheels and signs to participating Greene County organizations, which include the following this year: Greene CATS; the offices of the Greene County Recorder, Auditor and Prosecutor; the Jamestown, Xenia and Cedarville libraries; the Jamestown and Fairborn sites of Kids Learning Place; Greene County Sanitary Engineering; Greene County Family & Children First; Greene County Records & Archives; the village of Jamestown; Greene County Public Health and Greene County Family & Children First.
