FAIRBORN — Wright Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is a 99-bed facility that offers short-term rehab, memory care and traditional long-term care.
“Seniors still have the old fear of nursing homes and don’t realize the changes with rules and regulations now are in place for their health and safety,” Executive Director Gregory Nijak said. “We go to the hospital, meet with families and are dedicated to our Fairborn seniors. Working with them is a heart-felt job we takes seriously.”
Getting admitted takes giving the facility a call and talking to them about what services are needed. It also receives referrals from hospitals, doctors and community members, and offers tours to allow citizens to see what it has to offer.
The most common-requested care is knee and stroke rehab, although the staff is capable of taking care of all individuals.
“A lot of our service is short term rehab, whether it’s a couple of weeks or months, depending on their acute issues of health, but our memory care is often by family members placing them here with their needs,” Nijack said.
The majority of the individuals seeking care has some source of medicare, medicaid and/or insurance. Nijack said there is not a lot of out-of-pocket expenses as health care pays most, but if its a supplement is present they may have a co-pay.
“We are the most regulated industry behind nuclear energy,” Nijack said. “We have over 190 rules with an annual survey, and four times a year Greene County inspects our kitchen.”
It is currently at a four-star rating, according to its website. Individuals can visit medicare.gov to find a nursing home, look at health inspections and the quality of offered medical care.
Wright Nursing and Rehabilitation Center includes 11o employees, and offers the “Big and Loud” program, which is aimed to help Parkinson’s Disease patients.
“What makes this place and Fairborn special is everyone is like family, and I have found that it just feels good,” Nijack said. “I have worked larger towns, but Fairborn is special [because of] the people who work with us. We have a team, which is not just the staff, but includes doctors, hospitals, families and the community coming together to help us give to the people what they need. We are people looking for a solution to make things better.”
Individuals involved with the Wright Nursing and Rehabilitation Center participate in events, such as Bingo, as well as things offered by the local American Legion.
“We want Fairborn to know that we are resource center for them, whether they choose to come here or not, which they may not be in need for our services,” Nijack said. “Call us, we want to be a resource for the public as it is not an if, but a when. People are living longer and someday they may need some help. There is a lot of services out there and its not easy, but we are here in Fairborn to help others with paperwork, advice or assistance — call us we want to help.”
