XENIA — Greene County Veterans’ Services will host a “veterans summit” meeting from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, to introduce veterans to the many benefits and resources that are available to them and their families. The event will take place in the Greene County Media Room, 571 Ledbetter Road.

“It’s a collaboration of different organizations bringing their services that they have to offer for veterans together in one place,” said Greene County Veterans’ Services Director Chris Chrystal. “…We’re just trying to get the word out as much as possible to show and provide these veterans with the benefits that they’ve earned and they deserve.

Organizations expected to be on hand at the event include Greene County Veterans’ Services, Greene County Job & Family Services, Operation Fairborn Cares, Greene CATS, United Way, local colleges and universities, and others.

“A lot of veterans, sometimes they’re just too proud to ask for help,” Chrystal said. “If we can get them to come out to these events, then it might kind of make them feel a little more at ease and make them see there’s no shame in asking for help. Some of them don’t even know what they’re eligible for. This is another way to get the veterans out to see all the different benefits that are out there for them.”
