XENIA — All motorcycle riders and their passengers are invited to join in the 24th annual “Rusty’s Ride” charity motorcycle ride Sept. 12 at Buckminn’s D&D Harley-Davidson in Xenia. Proceeds from the event, which is held each year in memory of former Buckminn’s employee, Russell “Rusty” Shearer, will support the efforts of the Greene Community Health Foundation to provide Christmas gifts for children in need throughout Greene County.

The ride leaves from and returns to Buckminn’s, 1213 Cincinnati Ave., Xenia. Event registration begins at 10 a.m. with the last bike leaving by 12 p.m. The cost is $20 for riders, $10 for passengers.

All makes of bikes are welcome and the first 250 registered riders will receive a free Rusty’s Ride commemorative bandana. A plaque will be awarded to the largest group in attendance at the ride. Alcohol is prohibited at this ride.

After returning to Buckminn’s, participants can try for a door prize and enjoy a catered smoked hog and turkey meal, ending with homemade desserts provided by Xenia H.O.G. Chapter members. At 3 p.m., prize announcements will be made, raffle basket winners drawn, and a live auction will feature biker-related items. Raffle baskets, door prizes and auction items have been donated by Buckminn’s and local community members and businesses.

Free chair massages will be offered for paid attendees thanks to Rusty’s aunt, Carol Shearer, of Healing Hands Therapeutic Massage in Beavercreek.

Rusty’s Ride is one of the longest continually running charity motorcycle rides in the nation, according to Greene County Public Health. For more information on Rusty’s Ride, contact Carol Knox at 937-374-5658 or by email at [email protected].
