CEDARVILLE — Women’s track national champion Carsyn Koch and men’s soccer All-American Connor Gilmour are the 2015-16 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Athletes of the Year.

The two were selected in voting by the league’s athletic administrators.

Koch, a sophomore from Washburn, Maine, is the G-MAC Female Athlete of the Year following a phenomenal season culminating in a trip to the U.S. Olympic Team Trials next month in Eugene, Ore.

She was the NCAA Division II 800 meter national champion both indoors and outdoors and was a two-time USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week.

Koch captured the indoor title by more than two seconds with a 2:05.12 effort in Pittsburg, Kan. She turned in a 2:03.48 performance outdoors in Bradenton, Fla. to win by nearly a second.

Earlier this spring, Koch established the Division II outdoor record in the 800-meter run with a clocking of 2:02.39 at the Stanford University (Palo Alto, Calif.) Payton Jordan Invitational. It was that mark that qualified her for the Olympic Trials.

Koch was the NCCAA indoor champion by setting meet records in the 400 and 800. She was the NCCAA outdoor champion in the 800 (meet record) and 1,500 while repeating as Athlete of the Meet.

In the fall, Koch was the Lady Jackets’ number one runner in cross country guiding the squad to the NCCAA national title as an All-American. CU won its fourth straight G-MAC trophy and placed seventh in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional.

Gilmour, a senior from Warren, is the G-MAC Male Athlete of the Year. He guided the 15-4-2 Yellow Jackets to their third straight G-MAC men’s soccer championship and their first-ever NCAA Tournament berth.

He repeated as the G-MAC Offensive Player of the Year after leading the league in scoring with 17 goals and three assists for 37 points.

Gilmour ranks first in the G-MAC in career points (97), goals (43) and shots (208). He is currently tied for third in assists with 11.

Gilmour was voted to the NSCAA Division II All-America Third Team as well as the Conference Commissioners Association Division II All-America Third Team.

He collected Division II Midwest Region First Team recognition from both the NSCAA and the CCA.

Gilmour was additionally voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team.
