Davidson earns Emmett Award

ADRIAN, Mich. – Brody Davidson of Beavercreek, earned the 2016 Thomas Emmet Award from Siena Heights University. The award goes to the top junior male student-athlete.

Davidson is a member of the men’s volleyball team that finished with a school-best 18-8 record last season. The outside hitter carries a 4.0 grade-point average as a marketing major.

The son of Brock and Rhonda Davidson and Steve and Dody Saputo, Davidson is a 2013 graduate of Beavercreek High School.

CYCLING

Tour de Xenia runs Saturday

XENIA — The Tour de Xenia, a criterium bicycle race, will be held at Shawnee Park for the second year in a row on from 8 a.m. to approx. 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 4. The Ohio Criterium Cup race series event will play host to the Ohio State Masters and Junior Criterium Championships. The race is open to all ages and will offer over $5,000 in prize money, prime lap prizes, and merchandise.

The Tour de Xenia is expected to attract around 350 cyclists from all over Ohio. There will be special activities for children such as inflatables, and a Bike Rodeo for ages 10 years or younger. There will also be live music and food trucks. This is a free event open to all spectators. Greene Trails Cycling Classic, July 14-17

XENIA — The 2016 Greene Trails Cycling Classic will take place July 14-17 with the Greene County Fairgrounds Recreation Center serving as home base for the hundreds of cyclists expected to attend from all over the region.

Excursions will be planned for each day of the event.

Registration includes Fairgrounds Recreation Center campsite, Support and Gear (SAG), fully-supported rest stops, purchase pick-up, breakfast daily and all evening entertainment including meal on Thursday and Saturday night (if registered for Thursday and Saturday).

Adults Children (ages 5-12)

4-Day: $150 ($75)

3-Day: $125 ($65)

2-Day: $100 ($55)

1-Day $80 ($50)

Non-riders: $75 ($50)

Greene County residents: $25 per day ($10 per day) $10/day/entertainment

Group Rate: $135 per person/four days*

*Discount of $10 per person/per day with group rate —- five or more from the same bicycle club with registration mailed together.

Reduced Greene County Resident Rate includes all SAG, Rest Stops, Purchase Pick Up, Century Ride Award, Tent Camping and Breakfast. Additional and optional costs may include $10 per evening for entertainment; T-shirt, $15; and GTCC Jersey, $65.

CAMPS

Beavercreek hosting fundamentals girls basketball camp

BEAVERCREEK — The 16th Amanda (Reese) Crockett and Ed Zink Beavercreek Fundamental Girls Basketball Camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 6-9 at Beavercreek High School.

Cost is $100 per camper with a $10 discount for additional campers from the same family. Anyone who registers by May 20 can register for $90.

Camp will be administered and taught by Beavercreek’s all-time scoring leader Amanda (Reese) Crockett, and current Beavers coach and three-time coach of the year Ed Zink, along with current and former basketball players.

The camp is designed to provide campers with personal attention to improve their basketball fundamentals. Campers will also develop their skills and teamwork each day during league play.

Campers will receive a camp t-shirt, a drink each day, and trophies/awards for contest winners.

Also, Thursday June 9 is Mother-Daughter Camp Day, and family members are invited to participate.

Wilmington hosting boys basketball camp

WILMINGTON — Wilmington College will host boys Basketball Camp June 6, 7, 8 for grades 2-10. Camp Runs 9 a.m. -3:30 p.m. daily and the cost is $100. Contact K.C. Hunt at Wilmington College 937-382-6661 for information.

Fairborn hosting wrestling camp

FAIRBORN — Fairborn High School will host a Champions wrestling camp June 13-16 in the high school gymnasium. The camp will feature 2016 Olympian, NCAA champion and 2015 World Champion Kyle Snyder, four-time NCAA All-American and 2016 NCAA champ Nahshon Garrett, 2016 NCAA All-American and 2015 NCAA champ Nathan Tomasello, two-time NCAA All-American and four-time OHSAA state champ Bo Jordan, and 2016 NCAA wrestling qualifier Jake Ryan.

Sessions will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 13, 14 and 16, and from 3-8 p.m. June 15. Cost is $160 through May 20, $185 thereafter. Deadline to register is June 10. Coaches with five or more wrestlers registered can attend free and will have the opportunity to take part in the camp.
