SOCCER

Dayton Dynamo replaces coach

DAYTON — The Dayton Dynamo announced that head coach David Wall and the team have “mutually agreed to part ways,” in a statement released Monday.

The Dynamo, a first-year team in the Great Lakes West Conference of the National Premier Soccer League, is currently 0-4 in league play and have been outscored 11 goals to four.

Wall had been with the organization since 2014. He served as head coach for the Cincinnati Saints from 2014-2015, before assuming the same role when the organization moved to Dayton for this season. Assistant coach Dan Griest has been appointed interim Head Coach, until the end of the season.

Dayton returns to league play at 7 p.m. Friday when they’ll host Kalamazoo FC at Welcome Stadium.

Michalski All-American

BRADENTON, Fla. — Daniel Michalski became Cedarville University’s first men’s NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field All-American with an eighth-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Friday at the IMG Academy.

Michalski, a sophomore from Xenia, posted a time of 9:03.95.

Olivia Esbenshade, a junior from Marietta, Pa., was sixth in her heat in 2:13.20, but failed to advance to the final.

Koch earns another NCAA title

BRADENTON, Fla. – Carsyn Koch captured the 800 meter title with a time of 2:03.48 and earned NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field All-America honors Saturday at the IMG Academy.

Koch, a sophomore from Washburn, Maine, adds the outdoor title to her previous 800 meter indoor championship on March 12.

Koch is the Division II women’s record holder in the 800 meters (2:02.39) which meets the U.S. Olympic Trials qualifying time in the event.

The winning time of 2:03.48 is the second-fastest all-time at Cedarville. Koch now holds the Top Six 800 meter times in CU Women’s Track & Field history.

Beavercreek, Xenia to play in televised game

According to a Beavercreek Football Fan Page on Facebook, the season opening high school football game between Xenia High and host Beavercreek High has been rescheduled to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25 in order to be televised on ABC 22/Fox 45’s Thursday Night Lights game of the week.

Sponsors needed for Tour de Xenia

XENIA — Tour de Xenia 2016 is still looking for Sponsors and Prime (gift) sponsors. The annual competitive bicycling event, now in its second year, is looking for a sponsor for the Men’s Category 5 race and the Kids Bike Rodeo. Central State hosting Youth Football Skills Camp

WILBERFORCE — The Central State University Department of Athletics will host a Youth Skills Camp for kids ages 7-15 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 16 on the CSU campus. Check-in is at 8 a.m., kids meet the coaches at 8:30 a.m., with drills and competition getting under way at 9 a.m. Lunk and final remarks takes place at 11:30 a.m. with camp dismissal set for 12:30 p.m.

Beavercreek hosting fundamentals girls basketball camp

BEAVERCREEK — The 16th Amanda (Reese) Crockett and Ed Zink Beavercreek Fundamental Girls Basketball Camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 6-9 at Beavercreek High School.

Cost is $100 per camper with a $10 discount for additional campers from the same family. Anyone who registers by May 20 can register for $90.

Camp will be administered and taught by Beavercreek’s all-time scoring leader Amanda (Reese) Crockett, and current Beavers coach and three-time coach of the year Ed Zink, along with current and former basketball players.

The camp is designed to provide campers with personal attention to improve their basketball fundamentals. Campers will also develop their skills and teamwork each day during league play.

Campers will receive a camp t-shirt, a drink each day, and trophies/awards for contest winners.

Also, Thursday June 9 is Mother-Daughter Camp Day, and family members are invited to participate.

Wilmington hosting boys basketball camp

Carroll hosting girls basketball camp

RIVERSIDE — Carroll High School will be hosting a girls basketball camp from 9-11:30 a.m. June 13-16 at the high school.

Session one is for girls in grades 2-5; session two is for girls in grades 6-9. Cost is $60 if you pre-register; $65 the first day of camp.
