SOFTBALL

Fairborn wallops Trotwood-Madison, 28-0

Fairborn had a strong showing on the bats to get the 28-0 win over Trotwood.

Leading the way was Kelsie Coleman and Chloe Becraft going 4 for 5. Becraft had 3 doubles and Coleman with 1. Sophia Ceyler, Emily Reichart both had 3 hits each. Kenzie Shaver had 2 hits and Jordan Wilson did as well. Wilson also drilled a Home Run over the center field. Bryanna McClean and Kirsten George both had a hit each.

Kenzie Shaver threw 9 strikeouts for Fairborn.

Skyhawks held to one hit in loss

FAIRBORN — Fairborn’s bats were asleep tonight versus Lebanon. Kristen George was their sole provider for the at-bats. The Skyhawks put plenty of balls in play, but Lebanon had strong defense and was made great plays. Taylor Rice takes the loss for Fairborn.

Mechanicsburg explodes in sixth for win

JAMESTOWN — Greeneview’s Makenna Edwards singled, tripled and scored the Rams run in a 6-1 loss to Mechanicsburg this week. Visiting Mechanicsburg scored five runs in the sixth inning to break a 1-all tie and claim the Ohio Heritage Conference win.

No other details were provided.

TENNIS

Skyhawks still grounded on new courts

The Fairborn boys tennis team was home again Wednesday night hosting Greater Western Ohio Conference rival Trotwood-Madison, and again the boys played well but came up just short, falling by a final score of 3-2 at the Community Park courts.

At first singles, Fairborn’s Nhat Mai won in straight sets win over Emit Moore 6-4 and 6-3.

The other Skyhawks win came from the suddenly surging second doubles team of Austin Lewis and Johnny Ngo, who rolled over Anthony Parker and Jay Nellams 6-1 and 6-2.

Tyler Fillback played no. 2 singles against Trotwood’s Kobe Vinegar. After a slow start in the first set, he played a much more competitive second set in falling 6-1, 6-3.

Caleb Arthur fell at third singles 0-6 and 0-6 to Tre Battle.

At first doubles, it was Robert Floyd teaming up with Alex Cao to face off against Luke and Titus Hogan. In the closest match of the night, the Skyhawk duo fell 6-3, 6-4.

BASEBALL

Rams rumble over Catholic Central

JAMESTOWN — Host Greeneview scored five runs in the first, two more in the third and added another in the sixth, in an 8-2 win Wednesday over Springfield Catholic Central. Seth Trisel drove in half of the Rams’ runs in the win.

Fairborn shuts out Lebanon

LEBANON — Jacob Webb was the winning pitcher, he pitched 5 1/3 innings with eight strikeouts in Wednesday’s win. Jon Fields came on in relief to finish the game. Offensively, the Skyhawks were led by Andy Gilbert, who went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Brent Grody went 2-4 and Ryan Profitt went 2-3.

Rams first, second at WL-Salem meet

WEST LIBERTY — Greeneview’s boys track team placed first overall, and the girls were second among girls teams in a recent meet at West Liberty-Salem High School. Top Rams results from Tuesday’s six-team track meet at West Liberty-Salem High School:

Boys: Jaron Stoneburner – shot-put 41 feet, 5 inches; Robbie Engle – 110-meter hurdles in 17.89 seconds and 300 hurdles in 45.44; 400 relay – Logan Test, Collin Matt, Rich Howard, Robbie Engle – in 48.17; Daniel Sage – 400 dash in 53.44

1,600 relay – Rich Howard, Alex Brown, Collin Matt, Daniel Sage – in 3:42.54.

Fairborn Columbia sinks Kettering Van Buren

A day after falling to Centerville 13-0, Fairborn Columbia Middle School clobbered Kettering Van Buren, 17-0 on Thursday.

No first names were provided, but Davis, Allen and Maloon each had one single, Ferrigno doubled and struck out nine Van Buren batters, Hicks singled twice and Culbertson doubled and singled.

Columbia will host crosstown rival Fairborn Navy at 5 p.m on Friday.
