Golden Eagles pass Mohawk test

BELLBROOK — Host Bellbrook shut down the Madison Mohawks by a score of 55-18 in a Southwestern Buckeye League crossover game Wednesday night. With Madison coming into the game with a 9-5 record and trailing just Waynesville in the Buckeye division of the SWBL, many thought this might be a true test for the Eagles, but the Mohawks never could solve the quick Bellbrook defense and did not score from the field. Bellbrook raced to a 27-4 lead after the first half. Gabby Ozoude with 13 points and Stephanie Dorn with 10 were the only Eagles in double figures as nine girls entered the scoring column in this one.

The Eagle reserves had their first tough test in some time as they held off the Madison reserves 29-25 in the opener. The Eagles varsity now stands at 17-0 and the reserves are 16-1.

Bellbrook, now ranked third in the state in the latest Associated Press poll, returns to action Thursday, Jan. 28 when they’ll host Monroe.
