Knights lose to Kenton leaders
NEW CARLISLE — Host New Carlisle Tecumseh leads the Central Buckeye Conference’s Kenton Division with a 12-2, 5-0 record, after defeating Greenon, 62-41, in a CBC crossover match Wednesday night. No statistics were available for Greenon.
Darius Quisenberry led the Arrows with a 19-point effort.
Greenon (2-10, 1-4 CBC Mad River) returns to division action Friday when they’ll host Springfield Northwestern at 7:30 p.m.

Beavercreek bashes Springfield
SPRINGFIELD — The visiting Beavercreek Beavers roared out to a 20-4 lead over Springfield after one quarter of play and never trailed in Wednesday’s 69-18 win at Springfield High School.
Thirteen Beavercreek players were in the game and each of them either scored or provided an assist in the win. Cori Dilsavor led Beavercreek with 15 points scored, Kayla Shields, Rachel Mitchell and Michaela Rhodes scored nine points apiece, and Keaira Youngblook added eight.
Beavercreek (12-3, 3-1 Greater Western Ohio Conference, Central) will next play a noon contest in the Classic in the Country basketball showcase, Saturday against North Canton Hoover at Hiland High School in Berlin, Ohio.
Vikings win over Xenia
XENIA — The visiting Miamisburg Vikings outscored Xenia in all four quarters, but the 10-1 difference in the game’s second quarter was a key in Wednesday night’s 51-31 win.
Trinity Morton led Xenia with 14 points and teammate Jada Wallace finished with 10. No statistics were provided by Miamisburg.
Skyhawks fall to Springboro
SPRINGBORO — Evelyn Oktavec scored six points while Jana Brown-Griffith, Kaylie Cook, Courtney Mustard, Ashley Dagnan and Kristen George scored two each in Wednesday night’s 69-16 loss to Springboro. No individual statistics were provided by Springboro.
Fairborn (3-10, 1-3 Greater Western Ohio Conference, South) has a 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon game at Dayton Ponitz up next. Springboro leads the GWOC South with a 10-3 overall mark, 4-0 in the division.

Masterson to headline First Pitch Banquet
FAIRBORN — The Wright State baseball program has announced that major league pitcher and Beavercreek native Justin Masterson will be the keynote speaker at the 12th annual First Pitch Banquet on Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, on the main arena floor in WSU’s Nutter Center.
Justin Masterson is a 2003 graduate of Beavercreek High School where he starred in baseball and basketball. He then attended Bethel College in Mishawaka, Ind., for two seasons before transferring to San Diego State University for his junior year. There he pitched for Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn and was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 2nd round of the 2006 MLB draft following the college season. He shot through the minors and made his MLB debut on April 24, 2008.
The First Pitch Banquet features a sit-down dinner along with a silent auction. The cost for the event will be $70 per person or a VIP table for 10 guests costing $1000. The VIP table includes recognition during the program and admission to a pre-event meet and greet with Masterson. The doors will open to the public at 6:30 p.m.

Reds Caravan set for Jan. 28-30
CINCINNATI — The 2016 Cincinnati Reds Caravan kicks off Thursday, Jan. 28 from the Reds Hall of Fame & Museum and will travel more than 3,300 miles with stops in five states over three days.
The Caravan is presented by the Cincinnati USA Regional Tourism Network.
The four Caravan tours travel through Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia and Tennessee providing fans with the opportunity to interact with current and former players, top minor leaguers, broadcasters and members of the Reds front office staff. At each of the 16 fan stops, the groups will field questions and sign autographs while time allows.
All Caravan fan stops are free and open to the public, and at each fan stop listed below the Reds will raffle two tickets to the 2016 Opening Day game on Monday, April 4 (4:10 pm) vs. the Philadelphia Phillies.
The North Tour includes broadcasters Thom Brennaman and Jim Day, pitcher J. J. Hoover (Thurs. & Fri. only), catcher Devin Mesoraco (Sat. only), minor league pitcher Cody Reed, former Reds catcher and Dayton Dragons catching coach Corky Miller, President of Baseball Operations Walt Jocketty, Chief Operating Officer Phil Castellini and mascot Mr. Redlegs.

The Reds Caravan will also visit over 20 of the Reds on Radio affiliates throughout Reds Country during the tours.
Additional Caravan participants may be added to select tours. Times are subject to change.
Reds sales representatives will be at each stop to answer ticketing questions and discuss 2016 ticket plans, while the Reds Hall of Fame, the Reds Community Fund and Cincinnati USA Regional Tourism Network will attend select stops.
Memberships to the Reds Heads Kids Club, Reds Rookies Baby Club, Club Red and Reds Hall of Fame & Museum will be for sale at select stops.
Seating is limited at all Caravan stops. Autographs will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while time allows. No posed photographs. There may be restrictions on items celebrities can sign.

Arnold 5K run set for March 6th
The 16th annual Arnold 5K will be held on Sunday, March 6 in downtown Columbus. The race is part of the Arnold Sports Festival Weekend. All entrants receive an Arnold 5K race t-shirt and a free entry ($20 value) to the 27th annual Arnold Sports Festival after the race, plus the top 500 finishers receive Arnold 5K medals.
