Greeneview loses on the road
TIPP CITY — The host Bethel Bees (4-0) grabbed a 10-point lead at the break and held on the rest of the way in Tuesday’s 64-52 win over Greeneview.
Bethel freshman Caleb South led all scorers with 24 points.
Greeneview (1-4, 101 Ohio Heritage Conference) was led by junior forward Ethan Bradds’ 18 points and senior guard Austin Petry’s 14-point effort. In a pair of OHC battles, the Rams will travel to West Liberty-Salem on Friday, then they’ll host OHC/Route 72 rival Cedarville on Saturday. Both games are 7:30 p.m. starts.
Golden Eagles finish strong in win
BELLBROOK — The host Bellbrook Golden Eagles trailed 42-41 after three quarters of play, but outscored the Valley View Spartans 25-17 in the fourth quarter to win Tuesday’s game, 66-59.
John Bush scored a team-high 20 points, with Trent Nartker scoring 12, Donnie Crouch adding 11, and Storm Painter coming off the bench to score eight, in the Southwestern Buckeye League, Southwestern Division win.
In an early battle for the SWBL Southwestern lead, Bellbrook (2-3, 2-0 SWBL Southwestern) travels to play Franklin (5-0, 2-0 SWBL Southwestern) at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Bulldogs fall at home
YELLOW SPRINGS — Despite a solid 16-point effort by Yellow Springs’ Kaner Butler, and nine points from Tony Marinelli, visiting Dayton Stivers came away with a hard-fought 54-47 win Tuesday night at Yellow Springs High. The loss was the Bulldogs’ first loss of the season.
Yellow Springs (4-1, 3-0 MBC) returns to Metro Buckeye Conference play at 7 p.m. Friday when they play at Dayton Christian (1-2, 1-0 MBC).

Greenon 29, Springfield Catholic Central 25: Greenon wins its second game of the season. The Knights (2-6) play Wednesday night at St. Paris Graham. No other game details were available.

Raiders set margin of victory mark
FAIRBORN — The Wright State women’s basketball team set a school record for margin of victory in a game Tuesday night as the Raiders defeated Mount St. Joseph, 117-26, at WSU’s Nutter Center.
WSU never trailed in the contest, scoring the first five points and then breaking the game open with a 25-2 run to end the first quarter.
After scoring 34 points in the opening stanza, Wright State added 25 more in the second, 37 in the third and 21 in the fourth to finish just one point short of the school record for points in a game, set last New Year’s Eve in a 118-70 decision over Central State in the C.J. McLin Gymnasium.
The 91-point margin of victory breaks the previous school record of 63, set in a 103-40 decision over Capital on January 5, 1980 and tied in a 107-44 home win against Cincinnati Christian earlier this season on Dec. 8.
Wright State shot 53 percent overall and hit 14 of 15 free throws while Mount St. Joseph shot 18 percent for the contest and was just three of five at the line. The Raiders led in points in paint (72-10), points off of turnovers (47-4), second-chance points (32-2) and fast-break points (28-0).
WSU had six players score in double figures, led by Symone Simmons with 18 off the bench. Simmons also added eight rebounds and five steals. Kim Demmings had 15 points in just 13 minutes of action while Lexi Smith posted a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds off the bench.
Two other Raiders scored in double figures off the bench as Mackenzie Taylor had 13 and J.J. Williams 11 along with seven assists. Overall, Wright State’s reserves outscored the Lion bench 71-10. Emily Vogelpohl was the final WSU player in double figures with 11.
Wright State (10-2), which ties the 1986-87 squad, in the final year for the program in Division I, for the best 12-game start in school history, hosts its first Power 5 opponent since the 2009-10 season (Vanderbilt on Dec. 2) at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, as the Raiders welcome in the Georgia Bulldogs. That game will be the first of a doubleheader with the WSU men facing Bowling Green at 4:30 p.m.

Yellow Jackets win fifth straight
PAINESVILLE — Down four points with less than minutes to play, Easton Bazzoli drained a 3-pointer and J.C. Faubion stole the ball and scored on host Lake Erie’s next possession to give the visiting Cedarville Yellow Jackets the lead for good, Tuesday night in a 59-52 win at the Osborne Center.
Faubion led Cedarville (5-5) with 15 points, Bazzoli finished with 11 while Robert Okoro and Patrick Bain each scored 10 points each in the team’s fifth straight win after starting out 0-and-5. The Jackets stayed in Northern Ohio and played Walsh University in North Canton, Wednesday night. The team’s next home contest will be at 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 19 against Grand Valley State (Mich.).
