Atley to receive title recognition
BROWNSTOWN, Ind. — Jamestown veteran puller Carl Atley will be on of three Lucas Oil Pulling League Champions Tour competitors to be recognized for their season championships, during the annual Champions Banquet Oct. 31 at the Hyatt Regency in Indianapolis.
Atley drove his Ford-bodied “Lethal Weapon” truck to a six-point win in the ARP Super Stock Diesel Truck division. It’s Atley’s first title on the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League circuit.
Also being recognized are Jeff Hirt, who won the Unlimited Super Stock Tractor class, and Jake Zaring who won the Pro Modified Four-Wheel Drive Truck division.
Kil-Kare hosting Fall Grand Nationals
XENIA — The rescheduled $5,000 Fall Grand Nationals invades Kil-Kare Raceway this Saturday and Sunday. Running Box, No Box, Pro Motorcycle & Jr. Dragsters. Gates Open at 10 a.m. both days. Admission is $5, Kids 15 & Under are Free, Carloads $15.
Halloween Fun Saturday at Kil-Kare
XENIA — During the $5,000 Fall Grand Nationals this weekend, a Trailer/Rig Decorating Contest will take place Saturday with judging beginning at 5 p.m. Get your trailer or rig decorated up in spooktacular fashion and Kil-Kare Dragway will select a Winner & Runner Up. Winner will receive a 2016 Tech Card & Track Bite Pizza, Runner Up receives a Track Bite Pizza.
Trick or Treating will go on all day so don’t forget your candy. And don’t forget your costume, as we will also have a Best Costume contest! Stop by the Gatehouse in your Halloween best to be judged. Winner receives a $25 Gift Card. Costumes must be judged by 5 p.m.

State Football tickets now on sale
COLUMBUS – Two types of all-session tickets are now on sale for the Ohio High School Athletic Association football state championship games, which return to Ohio Stadium in Columbus December 3, 4 and 5.
All-session tickets for the seven championship games in the club level, which are the chair-back seats on the west side of the stadium, are $105 each and also permit indoor access in the Huntington Club before, during and after each game. All-session reserved tickets on the east side of the stadium, which don’t include indoor access, are $84 each.

Single game tickets will go on sale Nov. 29 and cost $10 at the state finalist schools, or at the gate before each game for $15 (club level) and $12 (reserved).
The state semifinal games are Friday, Nov. 28, for Division II, III, V and VII, and Saturday, Nov. 29, for Division I, IV and VI. The schedule for the Division II, III, V and VII state championship games will be announced on the OHSAA’s twitter page at approximately 11 p.m. on Nov. 28. One of those four divisions will play its state final on Thursday, Dec. 3, with the other three playing on Friday, Dec. 4. The schedule for the Division I, IV and VI state championship games will be announced at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 29, with all three of those games set for Saturday, Dec. 5.
Magic Volleyball tryouts are set
The Magic Volleyball Club will hold a series of tryouts for its girls volleyball teams.
The first is starting for players 14 years of age and 13-year-olds capable of playing up to 14s. That tryout is set for 5:30-8 p.m., Oct. 31 at St. Helen’s School, 5086 Burkhart Road in Dayton. A second tryout will take place Nov. 1 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at St. Helen’s.
Tryouts for 15-year-olds are from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 15 at St. Helen’s, and from 6-7:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Xenia Community Center, 1204 W. 2nd Street, in Xenia.
A pair of tryouts for players 16 and 17 years of age are set for 1-3:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at St. Helen’s, and 7:30-9 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Xenia Community Center.
There will be a $10 tryout fee, cash only.
The Magic Volleyball Club is based out of Beavercreek.
Jr. Minuteman team to take on Clark Co. Sheriff’s Department
ENON — The Jr. Minuteman wheelchair basketball team will play a special fundraiser basketball game, Nov. 6 at Indian Valley Middle School, against members of the Clark County Sheriff’s Department. Donations will be accepted at the door, and there will be baked goods on sale and a gift basket auction at halftime. Proceeds will help the Miami Valley Adapted Sports organization. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.
