Cedarville sweeps Greeneview
JAMESTOWN — Val Nix had 30 digs, Bryce Ratliff had four digs and four assists, Ashley Schloss bashed five kills and had two blocks, Cait Sweat had four digs, and Gabby Tobe came up with six digs for Greeneview, but it wasn’t enough to keep Cedarville from claiming a 25-21, 25-17, 25-19 win, Monday night at Greeneview High School. No statistics were available for Cedarville.
Greeneview will host West Liberty-Salem in an Ohio Heritage Conference match on Thursday, and Cedarville is scheduled to host North Lewisburg Triad.
Cross Country
Bellbrook teams 5th, 10th at Anna meet
ANNA — The Bellbrook cross country teams finished fifth and 10th in their respective team competitions Oct. 10 at the Rocket Invitational.
Sophomore Cole Weslow finished 10th overall out of 262 runners in the boys race with a time of 3:20.8 to lead the fifth place boys team. Cincinnati La Salle won the boys team event over host Anna.
Junior Lauren Kemper led the 10th-place Golden Eagles girls contingent with a 21st place finish in 4:03.7, out of 205 runners. The girls team title was won by Cincinnati McAuley followed by Lakota West and Russia.

Patriots win on the road
CINCINNATI — The Carroll Patriots improved their record to 4-3 with a 49-19 win Friday at Roger Bacon on Friday.
Cory Hastings ran for a school record 302 yards and three touchdowns, while Sean Pauley scored two TD’s (one rushing, one receiving) and intercepted a pass. Jason Piece had a sack and tackle for a loss. Carroll hosts Cincinnati Purcell Marian on Homecoming, Friday October 16. (This game result ran too late to get in earlier this week.)
Teams Go Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness
KETTERING — October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To show support for those battling the disease and to help raise awareness of the need for breast cancer screenings, Kettering Sports Medicine, Dayton Sports Medicine Institute, Kettering Breast Evaluation Centers and local high schools are partnering to hold “Pink Games” at athletic events in October.
The teams will be provided with pink towels at designated games in October. Kettering Breast Evaluation Centers will provide information on breast cancer screenings, and pink footballs will be thrown into the stands.

Jr. Minuteman team to take on Clark Co. Sheriff’s Department
ENON — The Jr. Minuteman wheelchair basketball team will play a special fundraiser basketball game, Nov. 6 at Indian Valley Middle School, against members of the Clark County Sheriff’s Department. Donations will be accepted at the door, and there will be baked goods on sale and a gift basket auction at halftime. Proceeds will help the Miami Valley Adapted Sports organization. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.

Bev Sword’s Turkey Trot set for Thanksgiving Day
JAMESTOWN — The Silvercreek Township Fire Department will hold its annual 5-kilometer run on Thanksgiving morning. Funds from the Bev Sword’s Turkey Trot event will not only help enable the fire department to provide services for the Jamestown area, but this year the funds will also help create a college fund for Dylan Swisher, the nephew of Bev Sword.
Bev Sword, an Emergency Medical Services Captain who passed away in July, often led the fundraising effort. The fire department is asking area businesses to help sponsor the event. All proceeds from this year’s run will go to the Dylan Swisher College Fund.
Entry fee is $30, which includes a free T-Shirt if you register before Nov. 1. The event will start at 9 a.m. at Seaman Park in Jamestown, next to Greeneview High School.

Dragons entertainment auditions Nov. 7
DAYTON — The Dayton Dragons will conduct auditions for several professional entertainment positions with the team on Saturday, Nov. 7 at Fifth Third Field.
The Dragons will hold auditions for the “Green Team,” on-field entertainment hosts, and mascot performers for the 2016 season. The Dragons are seeking fun, energetic, and enthusiastic performers for these positions.
The Green Team is the Dragons’ professional entertainment staff and its members facilitate all in-game skits at Fifth Third Field during Dragons games and other special events. The members of the Green Team are the backbone to the Dragons entertainment production and are responsible for welcoming fans to the ballpark; selecting and preparing contestants for skits; interacting with Dragons mascots and on-field hosts; dancing on the dugout; and shooting T-shirts to the fans in the seats.
The Dragons on-field hosts serve as the emcees of the entire entertainment show that takes place during inning breaks at Dragons home games. The hosts introduce contestants, skits, and contests and provide personality and enthusiasm.
The Dragons’ two primary mascots, Heater and Gem, are the central characters and most visible entertainers at the ballpark. They are part of nearly every skit and constantly interact with fans as they visit various areas of the ballpark. Mascots also make appearances within the community outside of Dragons games.
Individuals can audition for any or all of the positions. Interested applicants MUST register for an audition time at www.daytondragons.com. Auditions will include dancing, improvisation, and interview questions. Persons should dress comfortably. A professional résumé with references is required. Candidates must be at least 16 years old on Jan. 1, 2016.
