Skyhawks lose to Sidney

FAIRBORN — The Fairborn High School Skyhawks boys varsity basketball team dropped to 0-2 on the season and 0-1 in the Miami Valley League, after Tuesday’s 75-60 home loss to Sidney (1-0). Fairborn trailed by 17 points at halftime, but outscored the Yellow Jackets 24-9 in the third quarter to cut the lead to two going into the fourth quarter. The Skyhawks were led in scoring by Bailey Snapp (15 points), Julius Pullen added 13, and Dwight Lewis had 12. Garison Secrest and Blake Huffman both added eight points for the Skyhawks (0-2). The team is back in action this Friday night, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Greenville.

Rams win 3/4ths of Route 72

JAMESTOWN — In the Middle School version of the two schools’ annual Battle of Route 72, Greeneview won three of the four basketball games between the two schools’ teams.

The Greeneview seventh grade girls beat Cedarville, 21-18. Brooklyn Erisman led the Rams with 13 points.

The Rams eighth grade team also won over Cedarville, but by a 28-16 count. Kinley Saunders led the way with eight points scored.

In boys action, Greeneview split with Cedarville. Greeneview’s seventh graders claimed a 35-15 win, with Alex Horney scoring a team-best 14 points. In the eighth-grade game, Cedarville claimed a 50-30 win. Landon Gardner led Greeneview with 13 points scored.

Warner wins opener

GREENVILLE — Xenia Warner’s eighth grade boys basketball team opened its season with a 45-36 victory. Trenton Lee led the Bucs in scoring with 11 points, while Alijah Withers and Juan Underwood scored 10 points each. Warner hosted Tipp City Tippecanoe for a contest at the Benner Field House on Wednesday.

State title games on Spectrum TV

COLUMBUS — Spectrum News 1 will televise all seven OHSAA football state championship games Thursday through Saturday Dec. 5-7, while the OHSAA Radio Network’s weekly preview show is now posted along with details for its coverage of the finals.

For viewers who don’t have Spectrum, the games will be available at www.OHSAA.tv for online viewing, which is free for Spectrum subscribers and $9.99 for non-Spectrum subscribers.

Race tickets now on sale at Mid-Ohio

LEXINGTON — Tickets are now on sale for five major motorsports events to be held at the famed Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course during the 2020 racing season.

Relatives of XHS 1921 team sought

XENIA — The Xenia High School Athletic Hall of Fame is seeking any relatives of the school’s 1921 undefeated football team. The committee plans on inducting the team among its 2019 class of inductees on Friday, Dec. 6. The 1921 team finished the season at 9-0 and recorded eight shutouts, outscoring their opponents 222-7.

Football all-session tickets on sale

COLUMBUS — Two all-session ticket options are on sale for the 2019 OHSAA football state championship games, which will be played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium at Johnson Controls Hall of Fame Village in Canton, Dec. 5-7. The Stadium Club all-session ticket package includes access to the indoor club level during each game and outdoor premium cushioned seats. The Stadium Club package also includes complimentary admission to the Pro Football Hall of Fame adjacent to the stadium. The Stadium Club packages are $140 each. Also on sale are all-session general admission tickets, which do not include indoor access or complimentary Hall of Fame access. They sell for $85 each. GABP Clubhouse tours available

CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame & Museum presented by Dinsmore is once again offering off-season clubhouse tours of Great American Ball Park. The two-hour Major League Clubhouse Tours include the Reds and visitor’s clubhouses, visitor’s dugout and more exclusive areas.

Tours are available each Saturday at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. The tours run weekly until March 14, 2020. (No tours on Dec. 7 due to Redsfest).
