Girls Volleyball

Rams battle ‘Burg

MECHANICSBURG — The ever improving Greeneview Rams girls volleyball team pushed Mechanicsburg to a fifth and deciding set before falling 25-20, 14-25, 24-26, 25-11, 10-15 Thursday night. Valery Nix served up two aces to go with 18 digs, Kaitlyn Schloss had seven aces and 13 digs, Bryce Ratliff had seven digs and 16 assists, Bri Seigfried had 14 assists, Ashley Schloss had eight kills and three blocks, Cait Sweat had five aces and six kills, Gabby Tobe had 10 digs and eight kills, Jenna Basinger had four digs and eight kills and Maddie Hines smacked five kills for Greeneview. The Rams will host Cedarville on Monday.

Girls Soccer

Greeneview sinks Franklin Monroe

XENIA — Sydnie Sonneman scored a pair of goals, off assists frm Olivia Maxwell and Emily Rinehart, to claim Thursday’s win over Arcanum Franklin Monroe on the Athletes In Action Complex soccer fields. Greeneview is now 10-5 overall.The Rams girls and boys soccer teams have a game today on the road against South Charleston Southeastern. The girls match is set for a 10 a.m. start with the boy match to follow at noon.

Jills jolt Bellbrook

BELLBROOK — Golden Eagles sophomore Audrey Spirk scored off an assist from fellow soph Cassidy Hofacker to give Bellbrook a 1-0 lead, but Oakwood (10-3-1, 8-2-0 SWBL Southwestern) rallied for two goals to snag Thursday’s Southwestern Buckeye League, Southwestern Division win. Bellbrook (9-3-2, 6-2-2 SWBL Southwestern) will host Brookville for the team’s final regular season home game at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Marauders home games on Gem City Sports Network

DAYTON — The Gem City Sports Network will be broadcasting the three Central State Marauders home games this year. They will be live at radio1.gemcitysports .com and will be archived, on the Gem City Sports website, at www.gemcitysports.com.

The Central State Marauders host the Miles Golden Bears at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at McPherson Stadium, on the CSU campus in Wilberforce.

GOLF OUTING

Xenia Basketball Golf Scramble, Oct. 11

XENIA — The Xenia High School boys and girls basketball programs will host a four-person scramble golf event starting at 1 p.m. Oct. 11 at WGC Golf Course in Xenia. Proceeds from the tournament will help to offset the teams’ costs throughout their respective seasons. Cost is $70 per person, $280 per foursome. Dinner and prizes will be available after the event. There will be long drive and closest-to-the-pin contests, and a chance to win a new car with a hole-in-one on one hole.
