CEDARVILLE — Cedarville University welcomes top-ranked Ashland, Ohio Dominican, and Wisconsin-Parkside to the Callan Athletic Center this weekend for the Midwest Region Crossover college basketball event.
Action begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10 when defending national champion and Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Division II preseason No. 1 Ashland takes on Ohio Dominican. The Lady Jackets meet up with Wisconsin-Parkside at 7:45 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 11 pairings include Ohio Dominican vs. Wisconsin-Parkside at 1 p.m. followed by Cedarville vs. Ashland at 3:15 p.m.
All four games will be video streamed live on Stretch Internet to go along with SIDEARM Live Stats.
CU and Ohio Dominican represent the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Ashland is a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference while Wisconsin-Parkside is part of the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Second-year Head Coach Kari Hoffman welcomes back all five starters from last year’s squad. Cedarville finished 19-11 overall and 9-5 in the G-MAC while advancing to the conference semifinals.
The Yellow Jackets, who are No. 2 in this year’s G-MAC preseason poll, raised some eyebrows with a 59-53 exhibition victory Oct. 29 at Penn State.
NCCAA All-American Baylee Bennett is back for her second season at CU. The junior guard, who was also a G-MAC Second Team choice, averaged 13.4 points per game and drained 94 three-point field goals.
Junior guard Regina Hochstetler led the team at 14.9 ppg and was voted to the G-MAC Second Team. She also ranked fourth in the country in free-throw percentage by knocking down 81-of-90 attempts for an even 90 percent.
Four seniors return, who were the team’s top four rebounders and ranked third through sixth in scoring. The quartet includes guard Kaitlyn Holm and forwards Taylor Buckley, Breanne Watterworth and Emily Williams.
