WILBERFORCE — Hoping to garner their first win of the young season, the Central State University Marauders are set to take on the visiting Morehouse College Maroon Tigers in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference football action, at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 at McPherson Memorial Stadium.
The two teams were both picked to finish last in their respective SIAC divisions: CSU in the west; Morehouse in the east.
Morehouse College, based in Atlanta, is currently 1-1 overall this season. The Maroon Tigers lost in Week One on the road to Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 23-10, then began SIAC play with a 24-10 win over Lane College last week.
Central State (0-2) lost its home opener 34-23 to Elizabeth City State University. Last week, the Marauders were in Atlanta where they lost to Clark Atlanta University in SIAC play by a 55-14 count.
Saturday’s game will be U.S. Army Day at McPherson Stadium. All active and retired military members will be admitted into the game for free with a valid Department of Defense identification card.
In partnership with the Central State Reserve Officer Training Corps. (ROTC) program, information booths will be up around the stadium for anyone interested in learning more about the ROTC program at CSU. A group of ROTC cadets will take the Loyalty Oath of Service at halftime, and any military personnel in the stadium will be publicly recognized then.
