Greeneview Alumni game, three other games, set for Aug. 22

JAMESTOWN — The annual Greeneview High School Alumni soccer game will take place as the final event of a four-game soccer festival on Saturday, Aug. 22, at Don Nock Field.

The day begins with a 1 p.m. girls varsity soccer game against Tri-County North, followed by a boys junior varsity match up with Waynesville at 3 p.m. The Rams boys varsity team will then take on Waynesville for a 5 p.m. game.

The Alumni Game is set for a 7 p.m. start. All alumni players are asked to bring light and dark shirts to the event. All donations from all four games will go to the David Rowland Soccer Scholarship.

Xenia sets Jamboree preseason football game for Aug. 21

XENIA — Xenia High School will host Kettering Fairmont for an Ohio High School Athletic Association-sanctioned preseason Jamboree football game at 7 p.m. at Xenia’s Doug Adams Stadium. As part of Community Night, the Wee Bucs football teams and cheerleaders will be introduced, along with the seventh grade through high school athletic teams, flag corps and cheerleaders within the Xenia City School system.

Admission is $5 with all proceeds going to the OHSAA’s scholarship program, with a donation also being made to the Xenia Senior Center.

Bellbrook-Sugarcreek golf outing, Aug. 20

BELLBROOK — The 24th Annual Bellbrook-Sugarcreek area chamber of commerce golf outing will take place, Thursday Aug. 20 at Sugar Valley Golf Club, 1250 Mead Road, in Bellbrook.

Registration and lunch is at noon, shotgun start takes place at 1 p.m. Golfers are asked to wear soft-spiked shoes. Cost is $90 per player, which includes golf, a cart, food all day, refreshments and prizes.

Central State football hosting Fan Appreciation Day

WILBERFORCE — CSU football to host Fan Appreciation Day on August 22nd The Central State football team will hold Fan Appreciation Day at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22 at McPherson Memorial Stadium. Admission is free and the gates will open at 1 p.m.

Marauder fans will be able to view the 2015 team in an intersquad scrimmage. The CSU Athletic Department will supply 2015 football team schedules and facilitate contests and giveaways throughout the afternoon. Students are also encouraged to stop by the CSU Sports Information table for details on tickets and upcoming events throughout the 2015-16 school year.

Throughout the event, students who are followers of the CSU athletics twitter, facebook and instagram accounts will be randomly selected for prizes. Follow CSU on its new social media pages to be eligible to win today.

‘Yoga in the Outfield’ set for Aug. 19

DAYTON — “Yoga in the Outfield” comes to Fifth Third Field for the first time Wednesday, Aug. 19 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Participants will take part in a one hour yoga class on the field with Ignite Yoga founder Justina Sanford.

There will be a social event on the First Base Concourse, Milano’s Tap Room, and Fifth Third Cafe following the session. Food and beverage, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, will be available for purchase.

Admission to “Yoga in the Outfield” is $8 and includes a Lawn Ticket to a Dayton Dragons game at 7 p.m., Aug. 27 when the Dragons take on the Bowling Green Hot Rods.

Dragons hosting family movie night

DAYTON — The Dayton Dragons are hosting Donato’s Pizza Family Movie Night with a showing of “The Lego Movie” (rated PG) on the brand new 2,000-square-foot HD video board at Fifth Third Field. The gates for the event open at 6 p.m. and the movie will begin at 8 p.m Saturday, August 22. Families are invited to bring a blanket and find a spot on the stadium’s outfield grass and enjoy a night of fun at the ballpark.

Groups are advised to arrive early not only to secure a great spot, but also to enjoy the festivities before the movie begins. Kids will get to see Dragons mascots Heater and Gem, enjoy plenty of inflatable games, see some great skits from the Green Team and eat some ballpark food.

To get tickets to the event, all fans have to do is order any item from a Dayton-area Donato’s location to get an order form that also includes easy online instructions to request up to five tickets to Family Movie Night.
