Carsyn Koch named G-MAC’s Female Athlete of the Year … again!

CEDARVILLE — Cedarville University junior Carsyn Koch has been selected the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Female Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive time.

The Washburn, Maine native earned the honor in a vote of the league’s athletic administrators.

On the track, Koch repeated as the NCAA Division II 800-meter national champion both indoors and outdoors. She was also an indoor All-American in the distance medley relay.

Koch was the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II Midwest Region Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Year as well as the Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year.

Besides winning her national titles, she posted the fastest indoor and outdoor 800-meter times in the country in Division II as well as the fastest outdoor 1,500-meter mark.

She was the G-MAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year upon setting three meet records in leading the Lady Jackets to their third straight title.

Koch competed in the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 800 meters and the 2017 USA Track & Field Outdoor Championship in the 1,500.

In cross country, she was the G-MAC individual runner-up while helping Cedarville to its fifth consecutive trophy.

Koch placed ninth in the Division II Midwest Regional and guided the Jackets to a runner-up region finish as well as an 11th-place showing in their first-ever NCAA Championship appearance.

Koch is a Dean’s List student as a nursing major. She was voted to the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Division II Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country first team.
