Tunnel vision syndrome

The GOP Freedom Caucus in the House of Representatives has won the battle, but lost the war, insofar as getting the first step passed to begin removing Obamacare from the backs of American citizens.

To adhere to principle is admirable. However: to not be satisfied with 85-90 percent of your objectives is less than intelligent, to put it mildly.

It has been decades since the GOP has been in control of all three branches of government. The old axiom, “there are three things that should never be obsrved: ‘making love, legislation, and sausage.’” Truer words were never spoken.

The Freedom Caucus has just illustrated how true those words were years ago and now.

President Trump did succeed in boxing in Pelosi and Schumer when he stated that the Democrats now own Obamacare 100 percent. Ever since it was signed into law, objective analysis has confirmed that it is doomed to collapse of its own weight.

Then Speaker Pelosi stated that, “We had to pass it to find out what’s in it.” Had any GOP official said something similar, they would have been laughed out of town. (And should have been). But the so-called mainstream media praised the passage of Obamacare to the skies and beyond. There is no need to recite here the flaws and broken promises of the ACA.

For the good of our nation, the health-care issue must be addressed with intelligent analysis, mature judgement and in a spirit of service, not political “my way or the highway.”

There are other highly significant issues and daugerous problems facing America. Starting with North Korea, ISIS, The Iran nuclear treaty debacle, hacking of our once-secure electronic communications and our deployed military capabilities, just to name a few. One other situation that is also of some significance — our national debt and deficiet spending budgets each fiscal year.

Both parties have created this path to insolvency. It would seem that ‘Murphy’s Law’ is in high-gear. The scary news is that Murphy was an optimist. So much for the positive side of things.

Cheer up, it could be worse. Shall we pray? Yes. God Bless America.
