XENIA — Tecumapese is translated into Shooting Star. She was the older sister of Tecumseh. When their mother was unable to properly care for the children, she took over the responsibility of helping to raise her brother. It has been said she was his advisor, confidant and mainstay. After his second wife died, Tecumseh entrusted his sister with the care of his children. She had great influence among her people having been selected to represent the Shawnee nation at a conference of tribal leaders in Canada.
