“They read from the Book of the Law of God, making it clear and giving the meaning so that the people could understand what was being read.” (Nehemiah 8:8)
Just as these children of Israel were drawn to the Word of God so we also are drawn to it. It is our joy throughout life. It has been our source for faith and life. As these people did when the Word of God was revealed to them, we also take it very seriously. We are so thankful for those throughout our life who have helped us understand it. Surely we are far from really understanding it, but we are glad we are where we are. We continue to grow in faith and life every day because of the Word of God and His Grace that works in us. The Lord has been good to us and we praise Him for His Word.
As we have grown through the years because of the Word of God, it has been our joy to share it with others in the hope that God’s Grace would work through our sharing to bring transformation to their lives. This life is so full of need. There is the need for clothing, and food, and shelter, and work, and companionship. There is the need for mental development. There is most of all the need to recognize our God and Creator and put our trust in Him. That has happened to us by the Grace of God. We continually pray for His keeping of us in the faith and His directing of us in life. May it all be to His Glory!
Heavenly Father, how great is Your Word! There is nothing on earth, in written form, that comes close to its richness for faith and life. It is Your revelation to Your Creation. We thank You for that revelation and praise Your working through it to draw us to You. Help us extend Your Means of Grace, Your Word, to others so that they too may become part of Your Forever Family. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
