Stop and Smell the Roses garden tour

FAIRBORN — The Osborn Historic District Garden Club is showcasing gardens in the historic Osborn District and other select areas of Fairborn. Enjoy a variety of gardens including meditation, perennial, vegetable, miniature, an apartment garden and hidden backyard gardens. The tours run from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday, June 25. Naturalist volunteer training

BEAVERCREEK — Anyone interested in volunteering with Greene County Parks & Trails is invited to attend as a guest at one of the volunteer training sessions sponsored by the park agency. The sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Narrows Reserve Nature Center, 2595 Indian Ripple Road.

Citizens Forum

FAIRBORN — The City of Fairborn will host a citizens forum beginning 7 p.m. Monday, June 27 at the FISH Food Pantry, 1149 N. Broad St.

Fourth of July celebrations

FAIRBORN — Citizens are invited to participate in the City of Faiborn’s annual Fourth of July events. The annual block party takes place 3-10 p.m. Sunday, July 3 on Main Street. Its annual Fourth of July parade begins 10 a.m. Monday, July 4 in downtown Fairborn.

Clark County bike ride

SPRINGFIELD — Get outside and enjoy Clark County bike trails on Independence Day. The Ambassadors of Clark County Trails (ACCT), in partnership with Bicycle Revival and Clark County Park District, will be at the Beatty Station trailhead from 9 am – 1 pm Monday, July 4. Start the journey at Beatty Station to get some free water, maps and biking information. Mike Groeber of Bicycle Revival will be conducting clinics on how to change a tire, basic bike maintenance and bike safety. Event is free to the public. Republican Headquarters ribbon cutting

XENIA — The Greene County Republican Party will celebrate the opening of its new headquarters with a ribbon cutting ceremony beginning 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, at 477 Dayton Ave. in Xenia. Jane Portman, wife of Senator Rob Portman, will be the guest of honor. The ceremony will officially kick off the campaign for president and many “down-ticket candidates,” including Senator Portman, to be decided by voters in November. Everyone is welcome to attend this ceremony to open the long-awaited headquarters, and attendance is free. RSVPs are requested – call Carolyn Uecker at 937-318-7393.

Third Historical Bus Tour

CLARK COUNTY — Five historical homes in Clark County, built over 100 years ago, will be featured on a chartered bus tour Saturday, Aug. 20. For $60, 40 guests will visit the 1826 Crabill House and the 1839 Pennsylvania House. They will enjoy a box lunch from Simply Delicious at the Davidson Interpretive Center.

After lunch, guests will tour the 1854 Hertzler House, the 1850Underground Railroad Gammon House and finish with the 1908 Frank Lloyd Wright Westcott House. Call Kristina Kitchen at 937-245-1424 or e-mail her at [email protected] for tickets. The deadline is Aug. 1.

Regular meetings

FAIRBORN — The City of Fairborn hosts regular council meetings the first and third Mondays of each month. The next council meeting will take place Tuesday, July 5 within the Council Chambers of the Fairborn Government Center, 44 W. Hebble Ave.

The Fairborn City School District conducts its regular board meetings the first Thursday of each month. The next will take place Thursday, July 7 within the library at Fairborn High School, 900 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Road.

Senior Center Homemakers

FAIRBORN – The Fairborn Senior Center is accepting applications for part-time homemakers. Hours will vary. Applicants must pass a background check and drug screen, and they must also have a valid driver’s license and car insurance. Apply at 325 N. Third St.

Supervisor meeting

XENIA — The Greene Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors hold their monthly board meetings on the third Thursday of each month at the District’s office, 1363 Burnett Drive. The meetings are open to the public and will begin at 6:30 p.m. Any change in meeting location or time will be posted on the district’s web page or in the newspaper. Minimalists meet

YELLOW SPRINGS — Dayton Minimalists meet 7 p.m. every third Thursday of the month at the John Bryan Center, Yellow Springs.
