Columbus man dies in accident

BATH TOWNSHIP — A Columbus man was killed in an accident on SR Route 4 and Bath Road Thursday afternoon.

Jeffrey White, 33, was a passenger in a north-bound vehicle driven by Michael White, 29, of Columbus, when White attempted to turn left onto Bath Road and was struck by a vehicle driven by Brendan Bannan, 18, of Dayton, according to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Xenia Post. Jeffrey White was pronounced dead at the scene, according to to the release.

Charley White, 30, and Dameon White, 10 months, all of Columbus, were also passengers in the vehicle. OSHP said no one was wearing a seat belt, except for the infant, who was in a child safety seat.

Bannan, and passengers Tommy Sims, 19, and Jailon Curtis, 17, all from Dayton were wearing seat belts, according to the highway patrol.

Bannan was transported to Soin Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Michael and Charley White, Curtis, and Sims were all transported to Miami Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Dameon White was transported to Dayton Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The southbound lanes of SR 4 were closed for approximately three hours, according to the highway patrol.

The crash remains under investigation.
