FAIRBORN — The Fairborn Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting its Annual Banquet Friday, April 22, and chamber officials said it is the organization’s highlight of the year.

It begins with a social hour at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. at the Fairborn I-675 Holiday Inn.

Selected honorees will be recognized by the City of Fairborn, Fairborn City Schools, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Wright State University, the Greene County Career Center and the Chamber’s Ambassador Club.

The Ambassador Club additionally will present its award to Larry Long, owner of Long Cleaners. Thirty years ago as the Chamber’s incoming President, Long announced the creation of the Ambassador Club and introduced the red jackets Ambassador Club members would wear and established the first Chamber Chat.

Chamber President Karen Huelsman will reveal the winner of the President’s Award and Chamber Executive Director Paul Newman Jr. will present the major honor of the evening, the Jack Huelsman Civic Award, named in memory of a former businessman who continually demonstrated his dedication and generosity to the Fairborn community.

Entertainment for the event will be provided by the Fairborn High School Jazz Improvisation Ensemble under the direction of John Gorretta.

Attending the banquet costs $50 per individual and reservations can be made directly with the Chamber by calling 937-878-3191.
