FAIRBORN — St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Fairborn and Community Blood Center will hold a blood drive 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 9 in the church Fellowship Hall, 1501 North Broad St.

It comes during the first week of January National Blood Donor Month. Everyone who registers to donate will receive a Holiday Fleece Travel Blanket. Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment online at www.DonorTime.com or call 1-800-388-GIVE.

The Holiday Fleece Travel Blanket is red with a reindeer and snowflake design, with the edges stitched in white thread. The size is measures four feet by four feet, nine inches and rolls into a black travel pouch with the CBC blood drop logo.

The fleece blanket is free to anyone who registers to donate now through Saturday, Jan. 9 at any CBC Donor Center and most CBC mobile blood drives.

January is designated “National Blood Donor Month” because it is often a challenging time for maintaining the area blood supply. Winter weather can disrupt travel and seasonal illnesses can also interfere with donating. If participants must miss an appointment to donate, the CBC asks that they reschedule as soon as they are able and especially encourages the continued support of type O whole blood donors and type A/B platelet and plasma donors.
