Animal manure on a small farm

XENIA – Layne Garringer District Conservationist with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will share the latest information on how to deal with manure on a small farm at the 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26 meeting of Greene County Farm Forum.

Layne works in the Greene County Office at 1363 Burnett Drive. He will include information on the amounts of manure produced by different species of animals; the number of animals an acre of land can support; water quality concerns for disposal or field application of manure; summer verses winter application challenges and cost share programs for manure management.

The meeting will be held at Union United Methodist Church located at 393 Washington Road. Cost of the meal is $10 per person. Please RSVP Paul Ayres before Friday, Oct. 23 if you intend to have dinner. No reservations are necessary if you just wish to attend the meeting.
