ENON – The sounds of revved up engines will be rolling through the streets of Enon this Sunday, Aug. 23 as village officials host the 2nd Annual Enon Car Show and a food truck extravaganza.
The public event will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. along South Xenia Drive near Settlers Park in downtown Enon, and admission is free. Once again, the annual car show will feature vehicles from all over the Miami Valley area, along with musical entertainment by DJ Tom Murphy who will entertain the crowd with the sounds of the Beach Boys and other oldies-style music.
According to Enon Police Chief Lewis Wilcox, there is an entry fee for each vehicle exhibited at the event. A sporty dash plaques was given to the first 100 participants who registered a vehicle before Aug. 17. He also noted that individuals still can register vehicles for the car show by visiting the village website at www.enonohio.com or by calling the Enon Government Center at 937-864-7870.
“There is a genuine interest in the community for restored and customized cars and trucks, and the car show is a way we can display these great vehicles in one place,” Wilcox said.
For the first time this year, village officials are combining the car show with a food truck event. Local car and truck enthusiasts will have the opportunity to purchase a variety of culinary favorites from a number of mobile eateries, including the Horseless Buggy Eatery, Mohawk Freestyle Grill, Christian Brothers Meat Company, McNasty’s Food Truck, Craig’s Pesto Hot Dogs, Pa’s Pork, El Meson Express, Dayton Urban BBQ, G’s Cue BBQ, Hunger Paynes Food Truck, Griff’s Grill, TJ’s Sweet Treats and Cimi’s Concessions.
“The car show was very successful last year, and this year we are building on that success by adding food trucks to the event that will have delicious and awesome food for sale. You can buy what you want from whom you want, and we will have chairs and tables set up around so you can sit and enjoy your food,” Wilcox said. “We think this event will rock.”
Wilcox stated that several businesses in the area have also stepped up and are assisting with giveaway items for the participants.
“Stout Auto Sales, Enon Auto Sales, C&C Body Shop and Rogers Main Street Garage are just a few of the businesses that have already committed,” Wilcox said. “This is exciting stuff. Where else can you go on a Sunday afternoon and see really cool cars, hear wonderful era music and have a good time for free?”
Proceeds from the event will benefit Enon Police Department’s “Shop with a Cop” program.
