KETTERING – One of America’s leading experts on brain cancer is treating patients within the Greater Dayton area. Herbert Newton, MD, a brain specialist who focuses on brain cancer (neuro-oncologist), has joined the Kettering Physician Network. He is one of a small, select group of neuro-oncologists in the United States.

Newton’s primarily focus is on the diagnosis and treatment of adult and adolescent patients with tumors of the brain or spinal cord, and neurologic complications of brain tumors, specifically epilepsy. He specializes in the use of chemotherapy and molecular therapeutics. He has more than 27 years of experience in the highly specialized field of neuro-oncology treatment and research.

Newton has received many honors including: Best Doctor in America (2000-2015), Best Doctor Neurologist Top 1 percent, Columbus Top Doctor (2000-2015) and America’s Top Doctors For Cancer (2005-2015).

Neuro-oncology is the discipline within neurology that focuses on the diagnosis and care of patients where cancer, or cancer-related treatment, affects the brain, spinal cord, or peripheral nervous system.
