Poetry event to highlight endings and beginnings

YELLOW SPRINGS — The sixth annual Winter Solstice Poetry Reading, co-sponsored by Tecumseh Land Trust and Glen Helen, will be held on 7-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8 at the Vernet Ecological Building, 400 Corry Street in the village.

Fourteen scheduled poets from southwest Ohio will once again read nature-themed original work, followed by a wine and cheese reception. Attendees will also return to the auditorium for a lively open mic session open to the community. Individuals are encouraged to bring a poem they’ve written and would like to share.

This year’s theme is “Endings and Beginnings.” Poets may imaginatively go well beyond the physical implications of winter equinox to include the emotional, philosophical and spiritual aspects as well. The TLT reminds interested poets that funny is good, too. A suggested $5 donation will support both Glen Helen and Tecumseh Land Trust. All are welcome.

Featured poets include Hollyn Bermond, Caitlyn Bove, Rita Coleman, Cathryn Essinger, David Lee Garrison, Audrey Hackett, Bomani Moyenda, Aimee Noel, Gary Pacernick, Karen Scott, Cheryl Wood Smith, Lianne Spidel, Myrna Stone and MJ White.
