Public invited to review CHIP

XENIA — Greene County Public Health officials have released the Community Health Improvement Plan and are inviting the public to review and comment on it.

The plan was developed through a process with a dedicated group of people from various organizations who have worked since November of 2016 on assessing the health of the community. This work resulted in a Community Health Assessment report which provided the data needed to identify the priority areas to improve the health of the community. The priority areas identified were: Chronic Disease, Mental Health & Substance Abuse, Maternal & Child Health, and Injury Prevention.

The Community Health Improvement Plan describes the process used to select actions to be taken, and details how they will occur over the next three years.

In developing this plan, workgroups were formed around the four priorities mentioned above. These workgroups looked at the data, resources, capacities, policy, and competing needs. State and national health improvement plans were also reviewed.

To maintain the plan, workgroups will report on their efforts every three months beginning in 2018. This plan will be updated every year to reflect the progress, barriers, and changes in our communities and our nation that impact the priority issues being addressed.

The public is invited to view this report and to make comments by visiting the website at www.gcph.info/about-us/accreditation.
