BATH TOWNSHIP – Two Greenon High School students died after a single-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in Bath Township near Fairborn.

The district has identified the students as 17-year-old David Waag from Beavercreek and 15-year-old Connor Williams from Fairborn. According to a social media post by the district, a third student and recent graduate was also involved in the crash. That person’s identity and condition has not been released.

The crash happened just before 4 p.m. on Wilkerson Road near Mud Run Road.

Troopers say there were four males in the car. Ohio State Patrol says the two victims weren’t wearing seatbelts. Two other boys in the car were wearing seatbelts and both survived the crash, according to OSP.

The 18-year-old driver of the car told OSP he drifted off the right side of the road, over corrected and ran off the left side of the road. The car hit two trees.

The driver was taken to Soin Medical Center with minor injuries. Another teen riding in the car was also taken to Soin Medical Center for observation. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash, according to officials. The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.

Greenon schools were closed Aug. 21 but the district planned to have counselors at the high school for students. The district held a vigil Sunday evening at the high school’s football stadium in honor of the victims.
