FAIRBORN — The Fairborn Marketplace store, Kroger’s 17th Marketplace in the region, will open its doors at 7 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10 with the first 300 customers receiving a $10 Kroger gift card.

Beginning at 8 a.m., there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony. Located at 1161 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Road, the new Kroger store is 130,000 square feet and is a more than $23 million investment. The new store will employ 350 associates.

Unique features to this store include a wine and beer tasting bar; a Bistro with fresh chicken, sandwiches, traditional pizza, BBQ, bowls and wraps and Pan Asian/Sushi; an apparel department, expanded Meat/Seafood, Produce and deli/bakery departments; and a Murray’s Cheese Shop. The new Marketplace will also have a full service bank and Starbucks. Fairborn will offer ClickList – Kroger’s online shopping program, which is scheduled to open at the end of August.

In addition, Fairborn will have an expanded Pharmacy department and drive-thru, plus The Little Clinic, which is staffed by board certified nurse practitioners and offers convenient medical care for the entire family, ages 12 months and older. No appointment is necessary and The Little Clinic is open seven days a week, including evenings.

The Grand Opening Celebration is packed with special events. The Fairborn High School Marching Band will have a special performance and announce the ribbon cutting during an 8 a.m. Thursday morning ceremony. In addition, the Bellbrook High School Junior ROTC will present the colors followed by the singing of the National Anthem by Store Associate Aaron Grant.

Kroger will also present checks to the USO of Central and Southern Ohio for $63,566, the Foodbank of Dayton for $30,000 and United Rehabilitation Services for $15,000. Kroger will additionally make a donation to the Fairborn High School Marching Band and Bellbrook High School Junior ROTC.

Activities, sampling, special events and giveaways are planned throughout grand opening weekend.

“Fairborn is such an incredible community and we’re excited to be opening our doors,” Marketplace Manager and 29-year Kroger employee Brent Greene said. “We’re thrilled to offer our shoppers more product varieties and expanded services. We invite all customers from the surrounding communities to stop in and see all that the new Marketplace has to offer. Once you do, you won’t want to shop anywhere else. We really are the one-stop shopping destination for the Fairborn area.”
