XENIA — Local walking clubs are holding volkswalking events this Memorial Day Weekend.

Xenia Walking Club

The Yellow Springs Walk will be held Saturday, May 27. Start/Finish area will be on the front porch of Mills Park Hotel. Volkswalks do not have a shotgun start. Required registration and start time is 9 a.m. to noon. Everyone needs to be finished by 3 p.m. The walk is free. Those who want the stamp issued by the American Volkssport Association should pay $3. Walkers will follow written directions.

The walk is two 5K loops. One goes north through the village, past the farmer’s market and to Ellis Park and back. The South Loop goes to the far reaches of southeast Yellow Springs. It features several unique homes, the Women’s Garden, Antioch’s farm and views of the solar panel field. More information can be found on the Xenia Walking Club Facebook page.

Fairborn Walking Club

Fairborn’s Walking Club, Ohio Wander Freunde, will hold their event in St. Henry on Monday, May 29 at North Park Shelter #1, 251 – 393 Parkview Drive, St. Henry. All registration information is the same as above.

St. Henry’s Walk has two 5K loops. One takes in North Park, the Village and the iconic St. Henry Church. The other 5K loop enjoys the expanse of South Park and several different housing areas.
