Pedestrian struck and killed

WILMINGTON — The Ohio State Highway Patrol Wilmington Post is currently investigating a one vehicle fatal traffic crash, in which a pedestrian was struck and killed.

The crash occurred on State Route 73 near milepost 11, at approximately 6:57 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15.

Glenn Gage, 56, of Fairborn, was traveling east on State Route 73 in a silver 1995 Ford Taurus station wagon when his vehicle struck a pedestrian in the roadway according to the OHSP report. The pedestrian, Douglas Dodge, 55, of Centerville, had been involved in a physical altercation with another motorist just prior to the crash. Dodge was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a contributing factor, according to the patrol.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by Wilmington Fire/EMS, Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit, Ohio State Highway Patrol Investigative Services Unit and The Ohio Department of Transportation.

Any witnesses who are willing to come forward and provide any information concerning this incident are encouraged to call the Ohio State Highway Patrol Post in Wilmington at 937-382-2551. The crash remains under investigation.
