XENIA — For those looking for a way to complete their Level 2 Food Safety Training, Ohio State University Extension is offering an online course.
Ohio State University Extension, Greene County, in partnership with TAP (Training Achievement Program) is offering an online version of the training for residents who don’t have time to sit through the training, or can’t find a course nearby.
“The Ohio Department of Health has stated that each entity that serves food has to have at least one person trained at the Level 2 (Manager) level. They are expecting to have a very large number of people seeking the training before the deadline at the end of March 2017,” Melanie Hart, Family and Consumer Science Educator at Greene County Extension said.
The online course allows people to take the course at their own speed, while still meeting all Ohio Department of Health requirements.
“This online training allows working people the opportunity to get the training without losing work hours as they can do the training on their own time and repeat information as many times as needed for understanding. It costs no more than the two-day face-to-face training,” Hart said.
At the completion of the course, the course-taker will have to take a proctored certification exam in Xenia. The ServSafe Manager exam is proctored by an OSU Extension Educator who is a Certified ServSafe Proctor. Registration is $150, and is non-refundable for both the online class and exam. There is an additional fee of $25 if the selected exam date is rescheduled.
Exam dates are: Nov. 18, Dec 16, Jan 6, Jan 20, Feb 3, Feb 10, Feb 24, Mar 3, Mar 17, Mar 24, and Mar 31. All classes are on Fridays from 1-4 p.m. at the Greene County Extension Office, 100 Fairground Road.
