FAIRBORN — Community Park in the city will welcome citizens celebrating the newly cooled temperatures and crisping air over the weekend as the 2nd Annual Fairborn Fall Festival gets underway.

“We want to make sure it’s family-friendly, something everyone can come to and have a good time,” said Melia Rambo-Stump, owner and main event coordinator of All Occasions Events, which is hosting the festival. “There’s something there for everyone.”

The festival kicks off 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 and continues 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9. Community Park is located at 691 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Road.

Attendees can grab a variety of eats, paint pumpkins, play games, check out craft and direct sale vendors, observe 1700s-style iron metalsmithing, get in touch with local nonprofit organizations, watch chainsaw carving, be transported on a carriage ride, participate in bouncy houses, get their faces painted and stroll through the festival’s pumpkin patch, which will offer pumpkins, gourds, mums and photo opportunities.

The event will offer the opportunity for young festival attendees to trick-or-treat among participating booths and show off their Halloween attire in a costume parade. Festival trick-or-treating will take place 2-4 p.m. Sunday. To participate in the costume parade, children should meet 2 p.m. Sunday at the festival’s pumpkin patch dawning their costume’s.

While the festival offers three bouncy houses, one is set aside exclusively for those aged 2-7 years old for safety purposes. Rambo-Stump emphasized that the festival welcomes anyone with special needs, saying they will have the opportunity to play in the bouncy house, paint a pumpkin or participate in any other activity they wish.

“We are ready to accommodate for those with special needs,” she said. “We’ll make sure they have fun.”
