XENIA — There are many upcoming workshops being sponsored by and held at Soin Medical Center and Greene Memorial Hospital. These events are organized to help the public understand some common health problems, Medicare, and emergencies.

The month of September offers a workshop about funeral planning called “Your Life, Your Legacy.” This event will be held at 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1 at Soin Medical Center. Lunch will be provided.

At 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, there will be a low vision seminar held at Greene Memorial Hospital. The guest speakers for this event will be representatives from the Prevent Blindness Group. Lunch will be provided.

Then in the evening, there will be a Vascular Health Night Out. This will be at 4:30-6:30p.m. at Soin Medical Center. This workshop focuses on varicose veins and leg pain. There will be two speaks at this event, Reginald Sequeira, MD and Lewis Rilati, MD. Refreshments will be provided.

A Medicare Symposium workship for senior citizen will be held 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21 at Soin Medical Center and Tuesday, Oct. 4 at Greene Memorial Hospital. This event is to inform seniors about the Medicare system and to answer all questions associated with senior benefits. Speakers for this event will be from the Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program.

There will be a another workshop held at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22 at Greene Memorial Hospital — “Emergency Events … Are You Ready.” This workshop is designed to engage the public in emergency preparations. When an emergency happens, do you know what steps to take? Participants will know following this workshop. Refreshments will be provided.

These workshops will give attendees understanding some important topics necessary for life, explained Tonya Chambers coordinator for Year’s Ahead programs like these. All the events will provide information with time for questions. There will be more workshops coming in October.
