FAIRBORN — Four hundred families filed into the Wright State University Nutter Center parking lot Friday, Aug. 12 — one by one, the trunks of their cars were filled with vegetables grown by Ohio farmers.

The Dayton Foodbank provided the produce; Caresource, the volunteers and Wright State’s Nutter Center, the venue. This was the second straight year that Wright State welcomed the Dayton Foodbank’s distribution pick up in Greene County.

“We always want to be a part in the community,” said Nutter Center Executive Director Jim Brown.

“Wright State University, along with the Nutter Center folks, have been so generous and they let us take over their parking lot for a few hours,” said Lora Davenport, Dayton Foodbank community relations manager.

The Dayton Foodbank serves as the primary source of food for the hunger relief network in the Miami Valley.
